Art History and Survey Courses

Art History and Survey courses introduce you to selected visual art histories and methods. They are designed to support future studio-based education in Fine Arts, Design, Media Arts & Digital Technologies.

Courses emphasize skills and knowledge relevant to all visual art disciplines.

Western visual culture is considered in its world context; artworks and artifacts are discussed in terms of their function as conveyors of complex cultural values and meanings.

Courses include

  • Visual Arts Survey I
  • Canadian and Aboriginal Art Level I
  • Practical Art Survey I: Preparing Artworks for Display, Planning and Staging Exhibitions and Marketing Your Artwork
  • Printmaking & Traditional Image Making I
