CERTESL Requirements
- High school diploma (grade 12 with appropriate English course credits)
- If English is not your first language, you need proven English proficiency equivalent to at least 80 in the TOEFL-iBT, with no less than 20 in each band; 550 in the paper-based TOEFL (213 computer-based); or equivalent scores in another recognized test of English language skill, or have completed either three years of high school in English or at least 18 credits of postsecondary education using English as the medium of instruction.
- Applicants whose English is below the required 550 TOEFL level but above 500 TOEFL (or the equivalent in another recognized test of English skills) may apply for the two-course TEFL certificate.
- Applicants must also write a short essay to demonstrate their English skills.
Once you are admitted to the program, you will receive a letter of admission that includes your University of Saskatchewan student number and will then be able to register for classes online.
